Protect Beach Access in Hollywood Beach

Protect Beach Access in Hollywood Beach

Ensure parking on Hollywood Beach remains open for all residents and visitors to use and is not privatized by new condo developments who are not including sufficient parking spots per unit and existing condo owners who have exhausted their assigned parking spaces.

In March 2020, the City of Hollywood leadership decided to consider restricting beach parking spots to appease condo owners who have exhausted their assigned number of parking spaces per unit, as well as accomodate new condo development projects who are not including sufficient parking spots per expected occupancy in their projects.

The new ordinance, which the Surfrider Broward Chapter and our members is adamantly opposed to, would take away public parking spots and reserve them exclusively for barrier island residents.

Surfrider is incredibly concerned about this measure as it would make it difficult for the general public to enjoy the beach but also further disenfranchise communities of beachgoers who will no longer be able to find affordable or free parking on the beach.

Unfortunately, this ordinance passed.
